// Fatal Error
This piece was my first venture into the world of motion-based narratives. The pieces was intended to be a self-portrait. I find the dichotomy that exists between the Mac and PC worlds amusing and completely unnecessary. I wanted to create a satirical piece to blow these opinions out of proportion. I also wanted to display other facets of my personality: my geekyness and the fact that most of my night since coming to DAAP are spent in front of a computer.
I created the graphics for the piece in Illustrator before bringing them into After Effects to animate them. I used a mixture of free-hand graphics and photograph templates to create a graphic novel-esk style. I used this style to push the geek factor as well as to reinforce the idea of a super hero and the stormy night atmosphere that it is set in.
The creation of Fatal Error was a labor intensive process, but I learned a lot of new After Effects and storytelling skills.
